On SpongeBob, there were a few episodes that centered around SpongeBob and Patrick's interactions with their favorite semi-retired superheroes, Mermaidman and Barnacleboy. Probably the best episode was "Mermaidman and Barnacleboy 5."
This episode starts off with a crime, the crime of hour-long waiting lines! Oh, to be stuck behind someone who had tons of time to make up their mind but can't decide now that they're at the front. As it turns out, Barnacleboy is fed up with being treated like a child, and when the other characters proceed to make fun of him, he decides to join the dark side, literally. Because Mr. Krabs said, "Why should I waste money lighting the whole store?" Soon enough, Barnacle-Man is committing crimes with two of Bikini Bottom's biggest criminals, Man Ray and the Dirty Bubble. Their crimes range from things like shooting lasers, robbing banks to, brace yourselves, everybody, ding-dong ditching!
Desperate, and out of options, SpongeBob and his friends, Patrick, Sandy, and Squidward decide to help Mermaidman his pursuit against EVIL. That is, after they dawn their appropriate superhero costumes. After a clever montage of them acquiring their powers, they learn of the location of the baddies, Make-Out Reef. They quickly go to the scene of the crime. At first, it looks like the odds are stacked up against them, that is, until their mediocrity starts to show. The villains declare victory and Barnacle-Man gives his final demands.
His first demand is he wants to be treated like a superhero, not a sidekick, number two, he wants to be called Barnacle-Man, and number three, he just wants an adult-sized Krabby Patty. Yep, Barnacleboy decides to give in to his own instincts and go back to being a superhero, and Mermaidman decides to call him Barnacle-Man. The episode ends with Barnacle-Man enjoying his adult-sized Krabby Patty and everyone having a good laugh. This episode is a great example of what makes for good humor. Constantly coming at you with great quality, this episode will start you off laughing and will not stop until it's over. It's especially funny to see the contrast personalities between Mermaidman and Barnacleboy and to see all the superhero tropes parodied. It was hard for me to find a highlight, but I decided to pick two. One, where we see what SpongeBob and the other characters alter egos are, and the IJLSA defeating themselves in a comedic fashion, but other than that, there are just too many. But in my opinion, Squidward was and will always be........
Captain Magma! Get him angry and he's bound to erupt!

SpongeBob - "Walking Small"
You want to walk tall? Then just watch "Walking Small" that often airs after "Texas." Note to viewers this is the third and final Plankton-focused episode of the first season. So now, let's begin.
In this episode, Plankton decides to bring up the future sight of the Chum Bucket Mega Bucket on the Goo Lagoon. And he uses SpongeBob as bait to get everyone to leave Goo Lagoon. With a few comical situations like SpongeBob being "insertive," and SpongeBob misunderstanding Plankton's phrases to the guy in sandals borrowing his metal detector. It all gets better when SpongeBob's finally become improving like shaking sand everywhere, stealing the hot dogs, kites, and destroying volleyballs. Will SpongeBob reverse the damage, or will Plankton's plan succeed? Watch and find out. Okay?
What I like about this episode is that it's not focused on Plankton trying to steal the formula. Instead, it's focused on him trying to make a much bigger restaurant in Bikini Bottom. It's petty funny when he cries over the fact that he bought two ice cream cones, you know, because this is a Sean Dempsey animation directed episode, Dempsey has a fetish for crying! Also, SpongeBob's Jerry Seinfeld like stand-up comedy was pretty funny. I even like how he reverses the damage, like for example, bringing the hot dogs and kites back to the beach-goers, and being a surfboard for Scooter. All Plankton needed was aggresiveness and being assertive, sorry "Putting Your Hoof Down," you stole that idea.
Overall, this episode is pretty funny, especially with Plankton shouting through his megaphone, SpongeBob taking his sweet time eating his ice cream, and of course, his Jerry Seinfeld reference. He is a true altruist folks. By the way, Plankton does have a point, SpongeBob is soft because he IS a sponge.
In the end, Plankton deserved to have his plan reversed, he totally deserved it. I also like Larry the Lobster's speaking cameo asking for the volleyball and saying "Let's just go home I guess," which speaking of which, all of you should go home right now until the next review.

SpongeBob - "Home Sweet Pineapple"
Home sweet home, the old saying, or how about Home Sweet Pineapple, a better saying according to SpongeBob. Yep, "Home Sweet Pineapple" is the next SpongeBob episode I'm reviewing, folks. Let's not waste any time, let's begin.
The episode begins with a herd of nematodes messing around and eating anything and everything they would want, usually as said by their leader. And when they get thirsty, they bring out bendy straws and suck out all the juice form a how that's made out of a fruit. And unfortunately, SpongeBob's house has to be the one they choose. Once SpongeBob's house disappears completely, SpongeBob decides he should just move back with her parents, but his friends suggest they sleep with him. Will he stay in Bikini Bottom? Stay tuned to find out.
I have a lot of mixed feelings towards this episode. I mean, Squidward is just too happy for SpongeBob's house to be drunken off the face of the earth. I mean, if nematodes drank down on his house, would he never mind this? Oh, heavens no! He would just be disappointed as SpongeBob was. Squidward, just have some sympathy for crying out loud. And another thing, SpongeBob's only choice is moving back with his mom and dad? I mean come on, you guys could've made him think of other places other than Squidward or Patrick's. Like how about Sandy's or any other citizen of Bikini Bottom. Whether they were originally going for that or not, I'll never know.
Okay, all nitpicking aside, this episode has a lot of laughs despite those problems I mentioned. For example, Fred's boatmobile getting eaten and he says "Oh, dang nematodes!" And Squidward's dead-pan reaction when SpongeBob yells "Oh, no!" on the phone, Patrick falling down from his sleeping position, Patrick giving a reaction to SpongeBob's house gone, the building montage, and of course, Patrick being afraid of spiders and constantly smashing his rock onto SpongeBob accidentally in a comedic fashion. I even like how karma comes to Squidward for not being sympathetic on SpongeBob when the house lands onto him, he deserved it, folks. All in all, this is pretty much an okay episode.

SpongeBob - "Employee of the Month"
I thought the episode that aired with this, "The Chaperone," was okay, but it wasn't good enough for me to watch it more than twice. Luckily, Paul Tibbitt and his team of storyboard artists were able to bring us back up with the following episode, "Employee of the Month."
Today is judging for Employee of the Month, but Squidward on the other hand finds this a scam. Mr. Krabs warns SpongeBob about Squidward being on the while, hence the phrase, "I might sneak up on you." SpongeBob, thanks to his soldier portrait, spies on Squidward, and Squidward, now following what's going on, decides to prove to SpongeBob he's better than him by trying to get awarded Employee of the Month that he is better. How will this end? Well, just watch and find out, okay?
This episode really made up for the blandness that "The Chaperone" had. It had more comedy than it's predecessor, and it even has a good plot, Squidward and SpongeBob competing against each other for the aforementioned Employee of the Month. I like the running gags of the krabby patties being spit at Squidward by a fan, as well as him stubbing his foot when trying to step on SpongeBob's hat. They even go so far as to carry anchors on foot.
This plot's just all over the place. But in a good way.
I should also mention that this episode had four storyboard artists!
You see that? FOUR STORYBOARD ARTISTS! And only one of them wrote the script, that one was Paul Tibbitt. Ennio Torresan and Erik Wiese previously worked as a duo writing various episodes for SpongeBob during the first half of the first season, and Mark O'Hare, he only wrote three episodes with Paul so, I guess he wasn't quite ready to be an official writer or something until late season 2.
Overall, you have to watch this episode to understand the humor they were going for.
I mean I like it when Squidward and SpongeBob showing Mr. Krabs what they can do even goes out of hand and after making too many krabby patties, the Krusty Krab explodes! Leaving the citizens of Bikini Bottom free krabby patties.
This episode is a heck of a lot of fun, and it's much better than "The Chaperone." Just watch out for that laughing Squidward hallucination.

SpongeBob - "Graveyard Shift"
This episode is filled with imagination, it takes you to another dimension, a dimension of sound, a dimension of fear, a dimension of mind, a dimension of 24 hours a day in a restaurant, where the Hash Slinging Slasher exists, and Nosferatu turns off the lights, you're crossing over into "Graveyard Shift."
Around closing time, when Tom comes to the doors to the Krusty Krab, when Squidward tries to inform Tom that he has to go home soon, Mr,. Krabs overhears all this and decides to make the hours to the Krusty Krab unlimited, in other words, 24 hours a day, With that Mr. Krabs leaves the scene leaving SpongeBob and Squidward in charge of the restaurant. Over time, Squidward spooks SpongeBob by telling him the story of The Hash Slinging Slasher, which results into SpongeBob into screaming in a rhythmic fashion, until Squidward snaps him out of it saying it was only a joke and a story, which results in SpongeBob laughing in the same rhythm. How will this end? Stay tuned.
This episode is scary........with humor! It's got a lot of good jokes about SpongeBob doing stuff, at night that is. Even rushing outside to take out the garbage and beathing heavily when he gets back inside. It's also very funny when SpongeBob takes off one of his arms and they grow back much to the surprise of Squidward, and even Patrick's little cameo was good. But the best highlight was has to be the reveal of the hash slinging slasher! Especially Squidward mispronouncing the name like SpongeBob did earlier, and he and SpongeBob's eyebrows and eyelashes rising up and shaking in fear. That's pretty funny, folks.
So, the bottom line, this episode is funny, with terror, and it's got a good story. Working late at night and telling scary stories along the way.
I must say, there should've been a Twilight Zone reference where Mr. Lawrence, who wrote this episode, would voice a parody of Rod Serling, explaining about the story of the Hash Slinging Slasher. Maybe it was a deleted concept or something from the storyboard artists.
Anyways, I like Dee Bradley Baker's character for the Hash Slinging Slasher who turns out to be a nice guy.
This episode to great to watch, even at night.

SpongeBob - Sleepy Time
You tired yet? Well, it''s 7:30, and now, I'm going to review a bedtime related episode of SpongeBob. That of course being, "Sleepy Time."
After SpongeBob's own dream falls apart, his dream self escapes from his dream cloud, and travel into his friends own dreams. Including Gary, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, Pearl, Mr. Krabs, and Plankton, all in that order. But no matter what SpongeBob does, with the exception of Gary, Patrick, and Pearl, he just ruins their hopes and dreams. Meanwhile, Patrick is just looking for a quarter. Even when he's asleep. The next time SpongeBob's asleep, he should just stay out of his dreams and stay in his own dream. But that's not even so much his fault, because it was his daydream self that did all that.
This episode is so imaginative and creative at the same time. The dreams are so visually cool, it has SpongeBob's dream of having a driver's license, Gary being intelligent, Patrick needing a quarter, Squidward being Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Sandy skydiving, Pearl's tea party, Mr. Krabs fishing for money, and Plankton being giant and terrorizing the city. I especially like the music for that scene, it was actually"Muscovite Rebellion," the same background music that was used in "Squeaky Boots" where Mr. Krabs goes completely insane over those squeaky boots. And he gets his comeuppance at the end by being stepped on.
This episode is sheer joy, it's funny, imaginative, cool, and interesting. We've got to see all the main characters dreams and what they look like and how SpongeBob goes through these scenes. This episode is just too cool for me to go on. Did I mention Ennio Torresan wrote this with Paul Tibbitt and Mr. Lawrence? Also, the "My Leg" gag is in here when Plankton zaps one of the citizens of Bikini Bottom.
Go ahead and give it a watch, and you'll be asleep in no time.

SpongeBob - "Plankton!:"
This is perhaps my favorite episode in the entire series. This first aired on July 1999, back when SpongeBob was just knew back then and all the other older shows still rerun more than this one, like Rocko's Modern Life for example. Okay, let's see if Plankton's first appearance is as good as I remember.
Now, after SpongeBob messes around with Squidward, the krabby patty comes to life and it's actually revealed to be Sheldon J. Plankton! Stealing the krabby patty! Once Mr. Krabs get rid of him, he states he's been trying to steal his secret formula for years, you mean before SpongeBob was hired at the Krusty Krab? And later that night, Plankton meets up with SpongeBob and tries to pretend to be a good guy, kind of like the wolf from The Little Red Riding Hood, he gives SpongeBob a golden spatula and he also likes booster seats. However, SpongeBob is smarter than you think, even if that plan failed, Plankton will not give in once he has the formula!
Later, Plankton sneaks into SpongeBob's house, and goes into the brain and controls it to steal the Krabby Patty Formula. Nobody could help SpongeBob, not even Squidward, because Plankton called him a mediocre clarinet player, which sadly is kind of true, He has a terrible way of playing the clarinet. This episode kind of reminds me of a Dexter's Lab episode if you ask me. Will SpongeBob get Plankton out of his head before it's too late? Stay tuned to find out!
This episode is a lot better than it's sister episode, "Jellyfishing," don't get me wrong, I like that episode, but it's not THAT good. It's very funny and filled with sci-fi elements to it. It has the second appearances of Mr. Krabs, The Krusty Krab, and Gary, and it's also the first appearance of Plankton, and it's also Mr. Lawrence's first experience on the show as a writer, if you don't count "Tea at the Treedome." I especially like how Karen analyzes Plankton when he gets his comeuppance, saying "Plankton - 1% evil, 99% hot gas." I even like how Plankton thinks all the food SpongeBob mentions for the Krabby Patty was actually the formula, causing him to come out of SpongeBob and say "COME TO PAPA!" but lands in the analyzer before even taking a bite.
Okay, final thoughts, while the first two episodes were trying their best being it was the first two episode, this episode really kicked up the SpongeBob spirit. I especially like the colors in this episode. It's all colorful, even at night time and I even like the musical score for Plankton that was composed by The Surfdusters, who also composed several other episodes in the show.
Go ahead and check the episode out if you wanna be more nostalgic about the first season.
One more thing, the episode kind of reminds me of a Dexter's Laboratory episode.

SpongeBob - "Squeaky Boots" review
"Squeaky Boots," the first Mr. Krabs centered episode on the show. So, how did this came to me for me to review, well, let's begin.
Mr. Krabs buys two dollars on a pair of squeaky boots, and after failing to let his daughter Pearl have them, he decides to give them to SpongeBob, but only after SpongeBob convinces him he'll pay him. At first, Mr. Krabs likes the idea saying it's money/music to his ears. But it goes so far to make Squidward take a week off because he can't take "the world's greatest fry cook" anymore. After hearing Squidward's warning, Mr. Krabs sees that SpongeBob is still wearing them and the squeaking continues to annoy him! Will it never cease? Stay tuned to find out!
Let's start with the pros. I like the plot of the episode. Mr. Krabs needs to give something away and SpongeBob foolishly buys them. I like the visuals of Mr. Krabs going insane over the squeaky boots, similar to Edgar Allan Poe's Tell-Tale Beat Heart. In fact, why couldn't this episode be called "Tell Tale Squeak Boots?" Oh, well, I'll never know. The comedy's pretty good, especially Squidward's little lines in between, Mr. Krabs vs. the window, him having the hiccups, him slapping his face on his desk, and even screaming out to the customers who appeared out of nowhere that he took SpongeBob's boots, resulting in weird faces like this one right here.
Now for the cons. I never like SpongeBob crying, not even in this episode. I mean sure, it's not as annoying as in the Paul Tibbitt era, but it just makes me feel bad for the character, and I also never liked the fact that Mr. Krabs didn't buy Pearl the flipper slippers she wanted at the very beginning, hence Pearl's line, "You really shouldn't have."And her crying is so loud that it can even shake the entire underwater environment. And I didn't like how Squidward's presence was quite brief. I mean I understand he was annoyed by the squeaky boots, but that;'s not an excuse to be out of the rest of the story. Also, one thing that does confuse me was that Mr. Krabs gave away SpongeBob's bonus for his paycheck for no reason. But if I were give a reason, I would say that he probably use it to buy Pearl those slippers she so wanted.
Okay, enough of the cons. What do I think of the episode. It's good, it's not great, but it is good. Te comedy's spot-on, it's visually interesting, and it has Mr. Krabs having a problem that doesn't relate to money. I like the dream sequence where he counts his money, and he also keeps losing his legs in the process, but this episode has a leg to stand on, pun intended, and I like how SpongeBob uses his boots to talk, that's pretty clever. The episode was written by Steve Fonti, Chris Mitchell, and Mr. Lawrence, who also wrote "I Was a Teenage Gary." One more thing I will point out is that the episode really knows how to mix music together. Like when Mr. Krabs finally tells the truth, it mixes two of Gregor Narholz's musical scores "Killer Birds," and "Death Trap" mashed together as if they were one composition.
Bottom line: Go watch this episode if you haven't already.

Like when Mr. Krabs finally tells the truth, it mixes two of Gregor Narholz's musical scores "Killer Birds," and "Death Trap" mashed together as if they were one composition.
Bottom line: Go watch this episode if you haven't already.
SpongeBob - "I Was a Teenage Gary" Review
You scared bro? You should be. Because we're gonna review "I Was a Teenage Gary." Much like "Chip of Fools," this episode only aired around Halloween. I have to give a shout out to PIEGUYRULZ who reviewed this episode on his ScumBob episodes list. I'll do my best to explain why I disagree with him on this episode, now, let's begin.
What's the story? Well, SpongeBob and Patrick have to go to a jellyfish convention down at Ukulele Bottom, but SpongeBob doesn't have anyone to keep an eye on Gary. It isn't until Squidward arrives and wants him to keep an eye on things, but Squidward, being Squidward is just so neglectful of Gary while pet sitting, and of course, three days later, he forgets to feed Gary. Gary does get sick, and they call the doctor. Doctor Gill Gilliam and SpongeBob don't want to do it because they're too squeamish, which results in a funny moment where SpongeBob keeps moving Gary but Squidward accidentally ends up injecting SpongeBob in the process. And get this, all Gary needed was water, what a twist! But it's not over yet. What happens next? Well, I'm not telling. Because you've got to watch it for yourself.
I have to disagree with PIEGUYRULZ on his review because, I couldn't find anything wrong with this episode, I will say that the plot wasn't all over the place, there were a lot of funny gags, like SpongeBob eating the snail food and belching and saying "MEOW! Why did I just do that? Am I cracking up?" And there's an explanation on why SpongeBob staked Squidward near the end, it was because he wanted help, and karma was coming to Squidward. These are called Squidward Karma Trips. These episodes are justified because Squidward was acting like a jerk, and it was satisfying to see him get his comeuppance for his sour attitude. This is one of those episodes, folks.
There were some parts I will agree with PIEGUYRULZ that the ending felt incomplete, but on the other hand, I don't find anything here to hate. I can say it was a good episode. Too bad it only airs around Halloween. By the way, it was written by the same people who wrote Squeaky Boots, Steve Fonti, Chris Mitchell, and Mr. Doug Lawrence, the voice of Plankton, of course. All I can say is that episodes that were written by Mr. Lawrence are mostly the best episodes of the series, minus Hall Monitor.
One more thing: The entire thing about Squidward transforming into a snail scene is just a dumb lie! A RUMOR! JUST A JOKE! I DON'T BELIEVE A WORD OF IT!
Okay, calm down, keep it together. Thank you for reading.
