SpongeBob - "I Had an Accident"

Now, if you thought Born Again Krabs was not good enough for you to like the episode, than this episode from the middle of the third season of SpongeBob is for you. C.H. Greenblatt at his finest here, folks.

Let's go into the story, uh?

It starts off with Patrick dying (in a video game that is, and says "D'oh! I got dead again, this game stinks.) Wait, not really, well, good thing he's gonna be okay. (he crashes into a mountain) I guess not. Anyway, this episode has SpongeBob getting into a bad accident while sand-boarding with Sandy and Patrick. His doctor tells him that if he gets another injury, he could end up being crippled for life, in the iron butt. SpongeBob, now overly paranoid is scared to death that he's going to be disabled if if he goes outside, so he becomes a hermit to avoid outdoor content, much to the disappointment of his friends.

Anyways, they try multiple ways of convincing SpongeBob that the outdoor world is worth risking your safety including ice cream, games, and washing an old person, but however, none of it works and they try to convince SpongeBob that they need his help when a gorilla attacks. SpongeBob knows that they're faking it at first, but then a real gorilla arrives and attacks! SpongeBob fianlly gives in and gets the courage to try and do something good, good for him, but it fails, however, one could argue that he did save his friends because he causes him to question about a gorilla being underwater, but I think a better question is how do they know what a gorilla looks like.

Also, for some reason, the gorilla becomes anthropomorphic and says "Oh, well, uh, that's funny you should, I mean, you see-uh, George, they're onto us!" And he and George the horse ride off into the sunset. Weird ending aside, this episode was very funny, it was quite enjoyable seeing SpongeBob's antisocial habit get put to the fullest, antisocial means not wanting to do with the outside world, and see Patrick and Sandy react according to their characters. Squidward's minor appearances were well-timed and funny too.

The highlight of the episode is of course the weird ending.

The Powerpuff Girls "Lying Around the House"

Three Cartoon Network shows I've reviewed in a row. That's strange, but a good thing. Now, I'm reviewing my only favorite episode of The Powerpuff Girls, Season 5, "Lying Around the House." But first, I want to give a shout out to Shadow Streak who said that "The Secret Swapper of Doom" was a ripoff of this sort of thing, if you don't believe me, here's the link to his review.

In this episode, Professor, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup completely tell lie after lie during their day off on Saturday. First there's one the Professor does where he says he has a lot of work to do, but the truth is he has an important game show to watch. And the Girls hate liver and onions, so they give it to the town's dogs. The following has Bubbles lying about drawing on the walls, Buttercup playing by herself with a dodge ball and lies about breaking the Professor's major brain award, or nerd award as Buttercup calls it, and Blossom lies about overflowing the laundry, this causes the little white lie to turn into a comical monster and wreak havoc on the house. What can they do? Watch and find the honest truth to this episode.

Before I knew about Lollygaggin;' existing before this, I thought this episode was the only instance of them spoofing Larry-Boy! And the Fib from Outer Space! It's obvious the people at Cartoon Network had a tape of the aforementioned tape. The major difference is that unlike the Fib who acts so evil is that the White Lie acts more comical and makes up lies by himself. I guess Chris Savino, the writer of this episode came up with that idea by himself. I also like how The Professor is watching a game show, what is he? Bob Pataki, because he likes Wheel of Fortune. Also, much like Lollygaggin', the Lie here is also voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson. Hmm, I'm going to go ahead and blame cartoon logic on this.

So bottom line, I don't think this is blatant copying compared to the Secret Swapper of Doom, both these shows have watched Larry-Boy! And the Fib from Outer Space! And whenever they do, they have to take notes to come up with another episode. I like the joke about the pants being on fire and hanging from a telephone wire, literal humor, folks. And also, I like the jokes on Buttercup and Professor accidentally leaving the toilet seat up, which usually causes the girls to go "What?"

Anyways, the moral is about trust.

ChalkZone - "Chocolate Brunch" Review

Now, let's review the 3-minute short episode of ChalkZone starring Snap. It's called, Chocolate Brunch.

Around breakfast time, while looking for food, Blocky finds some eggs and he and Snap bring them back home. By the time Snap finishes cooking the eggs, they hatch and they reveal to be chocolate bunny rabbits. Snap, being a carnivore that he is, wants to eat the bunnies, but Blocky won't let him, slapstick ensues! Pat Ventura was pretty good at writing this stuff more than those Jamal the Funny Frog shorts on Oh Yeah! Cartoons. No wait, he storyboarded this, not wrote it, Jenny Nissenson wrote this episode. Sorry about the incident.

This short is REALLY FUNNY! I couldn't stop laughing at all the slapstick in this episode. Snap never feels out of character, it's just that he feels hungry, why couldn't they go for the waffle fly they were chasing at the beginning? And I like that after the bunnies pop out of the buns and say to Snap, "Daddy!" causing a boing sound effect and Snap cries in a comedic fashion and ultimately gives in simply by saying, "Oh, I just can't do it!" The one thing that still bugs me is that they had to pitch shift Blocky's voice despite the fact that he's voiced by Robert Cait. What was wrong with his natural voice, and another thing, I like Candi Milo as Blocky more than Robert. However, I have nothing against Robert Cait.

What's the verdict? It's a genuinely funny episode! At least Snap and Blcoky's hunger were satisfied when the mother bunny gave them chocolate milk. All I can say is that that's a nice turn around from being an angry monster trying to kill Snap and Blcoky to an actual mother figure for those bunnies. All I can say is that don't do any of this stuff, especially steal her eggs, if you mess with the mother bunny, she'll mess with you.

ChalkZone - "Chip of Fools"

Whoa, I guess it's been a while since I've talked about my last time I've reviewed a ChalkZone episode. Now, I'm going to get back on track. Today, I'm reviewing, "Chip of Fools."

While exploring ChalkZone, Penny, Snap, and Rudy come across the Chocolate Chip Cookie Tree, I can say that that's the kind of tree that Cookie Monster would go do. While collecting a lot of cookies, Rudy and Penny see the bubble forest and leave Snap into keeping an eye on it. But Snap eats all the cookies before they could come back to inspect the chip to crumb aspect ratio. Snap becomes tired and falls asleep and gets a very eerie nightmare about talking cookies kidnapping Snap and turning him into a chocolate chip cookie too.

I know a lot of people have not followed ChalkZone, but I have. I like ChalkZone. I especially like this episode. I like how Snap is so cookie hungry and the nightmare he had is just visually interesting. I can understand to Rudy and Penny that chalk food would still taste like chalk. And I understand. The thing that kind of bugs me is the cookie snorfeler, if that's how you spell its name. It's like a vacuum cleaner, a vacuum that only like cookies. It's easily frightened though whenever people come across the tree. That's a good sign.

Bottom line, I like the episode and it was much better than the Halloween episode that aired before this one, which although I have nothing against Tim Curry, that Halloween episode was just a weak, weak, episode. But this, this just a better episode! Too bad it only airs on Halloween, kind of like "What is Blue Afraid Of?" and "I Was a Teenage Gary."

Hey Arnold! - "Big Bob's Crisis"

Let's take a look at an interesting episode of the fifth season of Hey Arnold!, "Big Bob's Crisis." Oh, man, where do I even start?

After having a heart attack/gas attack from eating so many lambs. Yuck! Big Bob Pataki has a vision of his past anger issues with orphans, birthday presents, firing employees from his beeper emporium, and ticking off a happy sunshine guy. This results him waking up in the hospital, and leaving to start a new life. and it's just so crazy! He gives away all of the houses prized possessions, and even Olga and Miriam's dignity. Helga's the only child who isn't affected by this, and she tires so desperately to get her same father back.

What can I say about this episode. All I can say is that well, it's pretty much promising, we see what happens when Big Bob's anger goes so out of hand and tries desperately to gain a new life and generosity. The only thing that kind of bugged me was that Helga just calls Arnold a creep when he was just trying to help out a friend. Yeah sure, she has a secret crush on Arnold, but that's no excuse to call him a creep. Need I remind you by the way that this was Arnold's only scene in the episode, by the way? I did find some parts that were funny however. Like Big Bob having a chest pain and mistaking Helga for Olga, which Big Bob was unaware that Olga's back at their house, speaking of which, I like Olga's line

"DADDY'S GONE COMPLETELY CRAZY!" That's Nika Futterman at her finest here. She may be from New York, but she has a strange foreign accent for Olga, kind of makes you wonder how that happened.

What;'s the final thought here? The episode may have it's problems, like Big Bob speaking in third person a few times as well as trying to make his family (including Olga) to move away to Oregon, barefoot, and Helga being mad at Arnold for no good reason, but all those problems aside, this is an okay episode. It's not great, but it's good. All I can say is that Olga is pretty lucky to keep the hut. It's pretty much a mid-life crisis episode, kind of like SpongeBob's "Mid-Life Crustacean," and The Fairly OddParents, "Engine Blocked."
